BOOK EVENT: Sesame by Rachel Simons

Please join us Saturday May 31 from 3pm to 4:30 for an in-store book signing and cookbook conversation with Rachel Simons, co-founder of cult-favorite artisanal tahini brand Seed+Mill, who will discuss her first cookbook Sesame x Global Recipes + Stories of an Ancient Seed (published by Ten Speed Press), an approachable collection of 80+ recipes celebrating the sesame seed. Our cookbook conversation will be led by Sarah Copeland, the acclaimed cookbook writer and chef behind Edible Living.

Sesame honors the evolution, history, and diversity of the humble seed. Whether it’s in its original seed-form, tahini (a ground sesame paste), sesame oil, or halva (a delicate, fudge-like candy made from sesame paste), sesame shines in both traditional and modern global recipes. In addition to Simons’ own favorites, the book is filled with contributions from a slate of noted chefs and food luminaries including David Lebovitz, Molly Yeh, Nisha Vora, Zoë François, and more.

Book Launch: IN BETWEEN by Bill Patrick & Seth Troxler

On Saturday March 22 from 5:30-7pm, Kingston Social will host a book launch with photographer Bill Patrick, the author of IN BETWEEN. Fellow photographer Doron Gild will sit down with him to discuss the making of this book, a travelogue, a behind-the-scenes documentary, and an ode to friendship which follows musician DJ and producer Seth Troxler on his world tour.

From February to November 2023, the American musician and photographer Bill Patrick joined his long-time friend, the Michigan-born DJ and producer Seth Troxler, on a world tour. During those ten months, the pair passed through four continents, twenty countries and over forty cities. In Between includes over 250 photographs and essays from both Troxler and Patrick. Combining elements of photojournalism, music photography, and portraiture, Patrick documented this fast-paced journey using various analog cameras. The resulting photographs offer an intimate glimpse into life on the road and a kaleidoscopic reflection on velocity. And don’t miss the after-party at Camp Kingston!

10/16 After-school Art Class: ECOART for Kids with Amanda Marlowe (ages 3-8)

At this workshop table, we enliven curiosity by transforming trash that has seemingly lost its purpose into artful expressions. Our budding environmentalists will learn to upcycle and care for the expansive though limited resources that our environment lends us. A kid-guided experience full of fun and self-expression.

This after-school workshop is offered on Wednesday afternoons this fall. Drop-in whenever you can between 3 and 5pm, $25 per child paid to the instructor upon arrival, in cash or via Venmo. No need to pre-register!
